Celebration, Dictionaries, Chocolate, Hats!

Dear Third Graders,

I don't even know where to begin with our fun, action packed week!  We got it off to a kick start with some tiny Harry's joining our class and sharing our writer's notebooks with the other third grade classes.  Here are some action shots.

Mr. Atwell from the Elks club came on Tuesday to give us all a dictionary.  With him was a WW2 veteran. We all got to shake his hand and get our dictionaries. These will stay in our desk until the end of the year and then we get to take them home!  Lucky us!!

We talked a lot about comparing and contrasting. We compared goldfish with saltines, Hershey's milk chocolate with unsweetened chocolate (I guess no one wants me to get that as our Halloween treat!), then two informational stories The History of Yum and When Chocolate Tasted Yucky! Next week, we will compare two fictional stories! Compare and contrast helps us as we move from learning to read, to reading to learn.

Science, we are beginning our weather unit. Here we are working in teams noticing patterns...

HAT DAY!  I was so bummed, I forgot it was hat day!

Have a nice long weekend!

Bear Hugs,
