Hogwarts and Science Power

Dear Third Graders,

     We ended last week with a fun night at Hogwarts!  It was great seeing so many of you there.

    Our weather investigation is moving along nicely. I was amazed at how well you were able to use a rain gauge, snow stick, and thermometers.

     We also celebrated an October Birthday!

Smile! It's picture day...and FRIDAY challenge!

Dear Third Graders,

     We sure do know how to end the week!  Not only did we all look extremely dapper, but we also rocked out our Friday Challenge.

         This week, our goal was to work as a team by asking for help, giving encouragement, and offering ideas.

The challenge.....

Help decorate our room by

building a Spiderweb for our Halloween Spiders!

The materials:  5 straws, 7 pipe cleaners, scissors, and string. 

The results... third graders that worked together, gave encouragement, included all members, and created amazing webs.

Fire Assembly

Dear Third Graders,

     Did you tell mom and dad about our first school wide assembly?  We learned a lot about fire safety from the Niskayuna District 1 and 2 fire departments. We discussed having a plan, checking our fire alarms to make sure they are not expired and have working batteries, knowing our meeting place, and being safe around things that could potentially cause a fire.  Keep working on knowing your house number and street name. You should also know one phone number that you can call in emergencies.

   We also earned our ten frame party! Our goal was following our directions for our morning routine. we could earn a sticker each day and when we got ten.... we got to brainstorm ideas and vote on a "party." Extra outside recess won and boy did we pick the perfect week.  Here are a few snapshots. We will be setting a new classroom goal Monday for our next 10 frame celebration.
