Happy Halloween

Dear Trick or Treaters,

Did you remember to scare the Tuna Salad out of your parents with your scary Halloween story?!?!

I know I scared some of you with our Mystery Bags. It was a fun way to practice both our investigation of textures as well as using great adjectives to describe items.

Have fun trick or treating tomorrow!  I loved the song Mrs. Johnston taught in music this week... Keep it in mind as you have a safe Halloween.

Tune of: I'm a Little Tea Pot

I'm a Trick or Treater set to go!
Here is my flashlight, I'll walk slow.
I always say thank-you for my treats
And I never run across the street!!

Bear Hugs,

Mystery Readers

Dear First Graders,

Amelia's mom came earlier in the week as our mystery reader.  We had a great discussion about being a citizen of another country.  A lot of us were confused about what it means to be a citizen of another country versus having family that originated from a different country.  This would be a great topic to investigate further with mom and dad!!

We also had a sibling come read to us from the middle school!  Isaac's sister held us captive with her great reading skills and amazing book.

Parents: On a side note, we are booked for mystery readers the first two weeks of November.  If you have a day/time you would like to come the week of Nov. 16th or 23rd send me an email and we can schedule on a first come basis.

Happy Reading!

Super Scientists

Dear Scientists,

We have been conducting some really great experiments with our different states of matter!  Here we are testing if a gourd sinks or floats (thanks Iris for bringing these in for our class!!).

Here we are observing how gases do not have their own size or shape!!

Bear Hugs,

Hogwarts

Dear Hogwarts Students,

We had a blast with our Hogwarts Themed celebration and game in P.E.  Here we are Friday showing team spirit!!

Guess Whooooooo?

Hello First Graders,

Our mystery reader today had a grandson in our class.  She used to be a teacher. She loves to take her grandson to The Tower for mini golf and ice cream!

Our mystery reader clues have helped prepare us to write our own clues for our friends to guess us!!  Mom and dad, when you visit Rosendale make sure to check out our bulletin board!

Sink or Float?

Dear Scientists,

I had fun conducting our investigation:

Will an apple sink or float?

Try other objects at home!  I can't wait to hear what you discover.

Bye!

Fun With Mr. Matthews

Dear First Graders,

Wow, you boys and girls did some wonderful learning with Mr. Matthews.  I heard he taught you some songs on his guitar!  Here are some highlights:

Mystery Reader:

i-Pad minis!!  (The lab was closed this week for 3-5 testing, but with the help of Mrs. Rose and Mr. Matthews the minis came to us!)

Classroom fun... we learned how to use double pan balances to compare the weight of different solids.

Boy are we going to miss Mr. Matthews when he retires at the end of November!

Goodnight!
