The Chris Poulos Experience!

Dear Bucket Fillers!

I loved watching Mr. Poulos perform his great bike tricks!  It was also great to hear him give us some ways we can fill other's buckets by saying kind words and being a good friend.

He also reminded me of our "I Can" poem this week
I can swim.
I can draw.
I can slurrrrrrrrp with a straw!

What can you do that is special or unique?

 Happy Wednesday!

Thinking Thursday

Dear Friends,

I was very impressed with those wonderful minds today.  You did a great job reading our fall poem and creating our mind movie to help us understand what the poem was saying!

You were also great thinkers in math today! I had fun playing Counters in a Cup! You can do this at home too.  All you need is a group of 5-10 objects.  Decide how many to play with.  Player 1 closes their eyes and Player 2 hides some of the objects under the cup.  Player 1 then has to tell how many are out of the cup and how many are hidden!

Our reading bags are coming home for the first time today!  If you have time to do the activity, flip the card to green.  Send back either way.  If you do not have time, don't worry we will resend.

Hello, Autumn!

Dear Friends,

Did you see any signs of Autumn on your way home today? Try taking a walk tomorrow and observe how everything is changing.   I wonder if you can think of any other signs of Fall to add to our list.

Teach mom and dad our cheer for spelling "of".

         Here is our silly class!

Happy Autumn,

Filling Buckets

Dear Bucket Fillers,

I enjoyed seeing your faces light up when you read the kind words your friends had to say about you.  Tell mom and dad about our imaginary buckets and share your buckets from school today!

Keep filling those buckets!

The Substitute Teacher From the Black Lagoon!!

Dear First Graders,

I am so glad you had a ton of fun with our guest teacher, Mr. Matthews' this morning.  It was neat to see who is the youngest, only, middle and oldest child in your families.

Have a great birthday weekend friend!!

First Week Fun!

Dear First Graders,

Boy was I glad to sleep in today!  We had a very eventful first week of school.  Over the long weekend, I plan to work on our first home assignment - decorating an 8.5" X 11" piece of paper with photos, ticket stubs, pictures, etc. to help inspire my writing!  (we brought home a paper describing this in detail that is also uploaded on our blog- right side page called "first home assignment".)

Have a great birthday this weekend friend!
It was great to have our principal, Mrs. Reinl, read us a story.

I hope you like having your very own White Board this year!!

….GO!!!

Dear First Graders,

Today was a lot of fun!  I really enjoyed going on our scavenger hunt with you.  I also loved investigating our names and discovering some really cool facts like who has the longest name!  I still can't believe we have 5 friends with names that begin with the letter A!

Don't forget to look through your goodie bag and find one thing from home that you want to bring and share tomorrow.
