Happy Valentine's Day

Dear First Graders,

Are you tired from the crazy busy and fun day we had today? I sure am!!

I am very proud at what wonderful author's you are becoming. You are doing a nice job stretching your ideas to teach your reader more through both your words as well as informational text features like captions, glossary, diagrams, and more! We have made a lot of progress at writing long and strong, but we need to keep pushing ourselves to write more. We will have a thin unit when we get back from break... so yes, that means HOMEWORK over break! I'll be sending home a blue sheet of paper where you can keep track of some of the fun things you do over February break. We will be using these to write paragraphs where we tell our reader more!

I really enjoyed celebrating Valentine's Day with all of you. We learned a little about how it started using BookFlix (you can watch or read at home by going to celebrations and clicking on the Valentine Story... remember our username and password is our school name!)

Mrs. Rackcliff made a great page of fun Valentine games.  Click here.

Happy Birthday Mr. D!!

Dear First Graders,

We had an exciting day today; celebrating Mr. D's birthday, smoothie club, and a mystery reader! Oh what fun!!

Keep working on those addition facts. We are starting to get really fast with sums to 10. xtramath.org is a great resource as well as good old flash cards.
