Learning... and moving up!

Dear First Graders,

We had a great time learning about sounds with the Traveling Museum. We even got to make our own instrument with straws!

We also got to meet our next year teachers and classmates!

Here is my group of third graders!

Time Flies When You're Having Fun!

Dear First Graders,

Though this is our last full week of school, we are still hard at work!! We started our MINI Realistic Fiction unit Monday and are hoping to finish one piece before the year is done.   Because it is such a short unit, we will not be having parents in for a publishing party.  We are going to celebrate our writing with the other first grade classes on the last day of school.  Don't worry, though, ALL published pieces will be sent home before the end of year for you to keep!

Also our END of YEAR celebration is going to be a KIDS ONLY time.  With all of the end of year events, it is much easier for us to schedule a KIDS only celebration. (And I hate to ask grown ups to take yet another day off from work!)

We wrapped up our Junior Achievement program. The kids had a lot of fun today designing their own maps. Make sure to ask them to explain why they put certain things where they did!  A huge THANKS to Mr. Cotter who taught the program with our class.
