Listen to Reading

Dear Readers!

       By now, everyone has had a chance to use the iPad to listen to some great books on our Read Me Stories App.  This has been a great addition to our Daily 5 routine.

      We also got to listen to our mystery reader read a great story called Big Pumpkin by Erica Silverman.  Ask us to tell you the lesson the author taught us!

     Parents, posted in our "News Letters and Star Helpers" side bar you will find the November/December star helper calendar along with information about our Trick Word Check In on October 29th.

Dear Fire Safety Kids,

      Today we celebrated our friends birthday, had a mystery reader and had a visit from the Niskayuna Fire Department!  The theme this year is, "Hear the beep, where you sleep!"

     You looked stunning today in your picture attire!

    Today,  I really enjoyed sharing those two Mo Willems books with you.  Leonardo reminded us how when we fill a bucket, our bucket gets filled too!  I also liked the lesson we learned from the Naked Mole Rats; be yourself no matter what others think.  (However, I like this book a little less after seeing pictures of actual naked mole rats!)

Mystery Reader Mayhem

Dear Fellow Readers!

       We hit the jackpot with mystery readers this week (somewhat due to me not realizing that it is already the first full week of October and I overbooked!).  You definitely can't have too much of a good thing.  
         Here was our special guest on Monday...

        On Wednesday, we had a sibling read to our class (also one of my fellow first graders!!)

         Who will be here Friday?  I can't say!  It's a mystery!!

Dear Hogwarts Students,

      We had so much fun today!  Thanks to our mystery reader for sharing a great book!

     The sorting hat came to our PE class.  Boy did Miss Sabourin have to work hard to get her here.  Check out the video:  sorting hat

Dear Bucket Fillers!

       I loved watching Mr. Poulos perform his great bike tricks!  It was also great to hear him give us some ways we can fill other's buckets by saying kind words and being a good friend.
